My journey
I’ve worked in financial services for more than 25 years in roles with both advice firms and national insurance and investment providers. Since 2003, I have been with CBW.
Day to day my role involves obtaining and updating information on clients’ pensions, protection and investment plans, as well as ensuring our systems are up to date with their personal information.
Ahead of the review meetings, I will contact clients to ask them to confirm details and collate valuation and performance information for the adviser to discuss with a client in the meeting.
I also deal with paperwork for new investments and plans, if clients want to access their funds or start drawing their pensions and liaise with insurance and investment companies on behalf of clients.
What I enjoy most about my job
Building relationships with clients and getting to know them. Having been with the company for so long it’s lovely to be able to see people enjoying their retirement or reaching their goals knowing our planning has helped them achieve that.
About me
On a mini-adventure. Depending on the weather and the time of year, hiking, swimming, trying something new or going somewhere different.
I support my running club, East End Road Runners. It is an all-abilities running club based in Newham, East London. I hold the England Athletics Leader in Running Fitness qualification. It’s one of the smaller East London running clubs but that makes it more of a family. Everyone is extremely supportive and encouraging of each other. The noise our club makes when one of ours goes past in the London Marathon is legendary!
Scotland; it has it all. The cultural cities, mountains to climb, stunning landscapes, so many beautiful but different islands to explore and the beaches on the Outer Hebrides are simply stunning. If only there weren’t midges!
Getting outside, especially (but not only) if it’s a nice bright day.
Swimming with seals in the sea off Orkney.
The difference having a valid will makes to the family. Seeing the outcomes when clients died with and without and the impact it had on their loved ones really shows the need for everyone to write a will and keep it up to date.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body. But rather to skid in, broadside, in a cloud of smoke, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a ride”. It reminds me that we aren’t here forever - make the most of it, try things, explore, enjoy it.
The fact that it’s a team, not a hierarchy. Everyone has a part to play and brings their skills, knowledge & experience to provide our clients with the best possible service.
