My journey

I have been an Administrator in the financial planning profession since age 18. I joined a small independent financial advice company in my local town, where I worked for more than two years. But I have always wanted to work in London. CBW was my second job and I’ve never left.

I have worked with almost every adviser at CBW, so have been able to deal with different types of clients and interesting cases. I am now a Senior Administrator, working with the Managing Director, Chris Clayton.

I pride myself in being very thorough, producing work to a high-quality and assisting advisers wherever possible to ease their workload.

What I enjoy most about my job

I have enjoyed being able to build a rapport with Chris’ clients in the past year and learning more about Inheritance Tax planning and Trust work, some of Chris’ specialisms.

About me

What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?

I like to spend as much of my free time with animals, namely dogs and horses.

What’s your favourite part of the world?

Cornwall - where I spent every summer as a child on caravan holidays.

What one thing can instantly make your day better?

Cuddling an animal. Being provided with a cup of tea and cake!

What’s at the top of your bucket list?

In the past year, I have taken up agility training with my dog. It requires a lot of time and dedication, but I would love to qualify for an agility competition at Crufts one day!

What’s the most valuable thing you’ve learnt doing your job?

How to be more confident in myself with my knowledge and experience, and that a client, investment manager or a boss etc are also just human beings like me.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

To surround yourself with positive people. No one is more “important” than you - we all just work at different stages of the work process to get the job done together.

What do you like about working for CBW Financial Planning?

The people I work with, within Financial Planning and the wider CBW practice. And the culture of the company: here, you can talk to your boss the same as you can talk to any other colleague. Even at our busiest time of the year, everyone will still have a smile on their face and a laugh together. Oh, and I like being in a tea round!
